Our Ground Shipping Services

The deep relationships we foster with carriers across the nation allow us to provide a variety of specialized services that cater to your ground transportation needs. We stay ahead of the curve, identifying and mitigating any risks or issues that may affect your shipments. Partnering with the experts of Global Gateway Logistics gives you access to the following ground shipping services:

Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) Shipping

As the ecommerce market booms and customer demands continue to rise, less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping solutions are needed now more than ever. However, the consumer desire to have more options shipped faster requires a strategy that’s flexible, cost-effective, and reliable. Our extensive industry insight gives you a competitive edge as we anticipate and solve for both planned and unplanned freight needs.

When shipping LTL, your smaller cargo shares trailer space with other shippers’ freight. Therefore, the price you pay reflects the specifications of your shipment, rather than the entire trailer’s capacity. LTL allows you to maintain your logistics strategy in a cost-effective manner. Additionally, your products will be in the hands of customers much faster, as you no longer have to wait for a certain amount of orders that will fill a trailer.

Full Truckload (FTL) Shipping

For large shipments that encompass over half a trailer’s capacity, full truckload shipping is the best option. As the truckload market becomes increasingly fragmented, it’s critical that your strategy be well-equipped. Our carrier relationships provide you with greater capacity, efficiency, and cost management. The expertise our supply chain professionals possess allows your company to remain flexible and meet customer expectations. We navigate the complexities of today’s market to avoid risk and boost your strategy.

Typically consisting of 10 or more pallets, freight shipped via FTL doesn’t share trailer space with other shippers’ items. As a result, your large cargo remains untouched throughout its transport, and shipping times are reduced from fewer required stops. Additionally, the risk of damage is significantly lower, due to the absence of other products.

The type of FTL trailer used differs according to your cargo’s specific dimensions and specifications. For example, shipments containing frozen or chilled goods will require a refrigerated trailer, while an enclosed dry van trailer carries items that need more protection. When providing a customized solution for your LTL and FTL needs, our team will recommend the best vehicle for transport.

Drayage

Companies that ship full containers may require short-distance delivery to load or unload them. Drayage, the process used to transport full containers to and from ships, rail or trucks, can be used to fill the gap. Usually drayage is limited to local or regional haulage, such as from a port to a warehouse or rail yard in the same area, but can also be utilized in certain long-distance routes.

Drayage deliveries are generally limited to two hours of free time for unloading. If needed, drayage can be set up to drop a container for loading or unloading and picked up on another date. Our team has extensive partnerships at all ports throughout the U.S. and can serve your drayage needs. We’ll ensure all details of your supply chain process are fully optimized, and that your goods are delivered in a timely manner.
